Tonight is the night! Dozens of lighting design students will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in the IESNY 2012 Student Lighting Competition. This year’s theme is Fraction/Refraction. The challenge is to show how light plays with textures, flows through materials, and creates layers of contrast. As is the case every year, there will be a multitude of impressive entries, with awards going to those chosen most effective.

The evening’s events will be ushered in by keynote speaker, Dietrich Neumann, the Royce Family Professor for the History of Modern Architecture and Urban Studies at Brown University. His research and publications center on Modern European and American architecture. In recent years, he has published a number of books on architectural illumination (“Architecture of the Night,” “Luminous Buildings” and “The Structure of Light: Richard Kelly and the Illumination of modern Architecture”) and organized major exhibitions about the topic at the Netherlands Architecture Institute in Rotterdamand Yale University. He is a former president of the Society of Architectural Historians1

For Immediate Release

A LINE OF I.P.65 RATED, WET LISTED, LINEAR FLUORESCENT FIXTURES

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – FEBRUARY 2012

Bartco Lighting enters a new market segment with the release of the new All Weather™ line of linear fluorescent fixtures.

Bartco Lighting has introduced the All Weather™ line of I.P.65 rated, wet listed, linear T5 and T8 fluorescent fixtures. The specification grade All Weather™ line is available in T5 and T8 as a single lamp fixture, a two-lamp fixture, and a two-lamp staggered fixture. It is available in 14W, 21W, 28W or 35W linear fluorescent T5 or 17W, 25W, 32W, or 40W linear T8 lamps.

The I.P.65 rating is, to many, considered a more stringent designation than a UL listing. The first number, in this case “6” represents protection from solid object. Six is the highest on the scale, denoting the fixture is totally protected against dust. The second number, “5”, represents protection from liquids. In the case of Bartco Lighting’s All Weather line, it is protected against low-pressure jets of water from all directions – limited ingress permitted.

Bartco Lighting is an award-winning (i.e. LightFair Int’l Innovation Award, Architects Choice for Excellence – ACE, LUMEN Feltman Award) manufacturer of specification grade linear luminaires, specializing in T5, T8, T6, and LED. Their manufacturing facility is in Huntington Beach, CA U.S.A., and their fixtures are IBEW made and labeled.
